§ 31.03  VILLAGE SOLICITOR.
   (A)   Employment; qualifications.  The Village Solicitor shall be an attorney at law, regularly qualified and licensed to practice before any of the courts of record in the state. The Solicitor shall be employed by Council upon such terms and conditions as are mutually agreeable.
   (B)   Duties.  The Solicitor shall be the legal advisor of all the officers and departments of the village on municipal matters, shall prepare such ordinances, resolutions and motions of Council as requested, shall prosecute criminal cases arising within the village in hearings before the Mayor when requested to do so and in any other court proceedings as may be necessary, and shall represent and defend the village or any of its departments in all litigation in any of the courts.

   (C)   Compensation.  The Solicitor shall be compensated as determined by Council. For improvement proceedings, the Solicitor shall receive additional compensation and expenses as may be approved and allowed by Council.
