§ 90.08 RABID ANIMALS.
   (A)   Duty to surrender animal; quarantine. The owner of any animal which has contracted rabies, which is suspected of having rabies, which has been bitten by an animal suspected or believed to have rabies or which has bitten any person shall, upon demand of a city employee, county law enforcement officer or county health or sanitation personnel, surrender the animal to the demanding agency to be held in quarantine or observation for a period determined by the demanding agency in consultation with qualified personnel.
   (B)   Infected animal. If, upon examination, any animal is found infected with rabies, the animal shall be disposed of or otherwise handled as directed by qualified persons.
   (C)   Costs. All expenses of keeping any animal confined or under observation shall be paid by the owner.
   (D)   Removal from city. It shall be unlawful for any person knowing or suspecting an animal to be rabid to allow such animal to be taken off or removed from the owner’s or custodian’s premises or beyond the city limits without the written permission of the city.
   (E)   Duty to notify city. Every owner or other person, upon learning an animal is rabid, shall immediately notify the city.
