§ 50.12 DISCONTINUANCE OF GARBAGE SERVICE.
   (A)   Discontinuance of service. Garbage collection service to premises may be discontinued when the outstanding balance for charges for garbage service has existed for one month or more beyond the due date unless, prior to the deadline set for payment, all past due amounts owing for such services are paid in full. As used herein, CHARGES shall include the amount billed for garbage services, along with any late payment fees regarding charges for such services. All discontinuances or shutoffs of garbage services shall be done pursuant to orders made and issued by the City Council.
   (B)   Procedure for discontinuance. Prior to shutting off garbage service, the owner or occupant of the affected premises shall be given a written or printed notice stating the intention of the city to terminate garbage services unless payment of all past due amounts for such services is made by a certain date. The procedures for service of the notice and the rights of appeal shall be the same as that provided above for the discontinuance of water service. The notice shall be provided at least five business days prior to any discontinuance of service. The termination of garbage services will coincide with a day on which the garbage would have otherwise been collected but for the discontinuance.
