§ 33.16 FIRE CHIEF; ASSISTANT CHIEF.
   (A)   Chief. The Chief of the Fire Department shall have sole command and control over all members of the Fire Department and shall possess full power and authority over its organization, government and discipline, and to that end, may, from time to time, establish such disciplinary rules and other rules as the Chief may deem advisable, subject to the approval of the Council. The Chief shall have charge of and be responsible for the engines and other apparatus and the property of the city furnished to the Fire Department and see that they are, at all times, ready for use in the extinguishing of fires.
   (B)   Assistant Chief. The Assistant Chief shall aid the Chief in the work of the Department and, in the absence of the Chief, shall perform the Chief’s duties and shall be invested with the same powers and authority as the Chief while so acting in the Chief’s absence.
