(A) The Metropolitan Police Department and/or the Department of Public Works shall be charged with the responsibility for the removal, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles which have been declared abandoned pursuant to this chapter and I.C. 9-22-1-1 et seq.
(B) The Metropolitan Police Department or the Department of Public Works may enter into contractual arrangements for the disposal of vehicles which have been declared abandoned pursuant to the provisions of this chapter and I.C. 9-22-1-1 et seq.
(C) The Department of Public Works may employ personnel, and acquire equipment, property and facilities, to facilitate the removal of abandoned vehicles.
(D) The Department of Public Works may enter into contractual arrangements with a towing service to provide for the removal, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles. The contract for these services shall be awarded on the basis of specifications prepared by the Department of Public Works.
