The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to the discharge of a firearm using blank ammunition in the course of a skit or theatrical presentation, whether indoors or outdoors, provided that said firearm and blank ammunition which is to be used in the skit or theatrical presentation is inspected and approved prior to its use by the chief of police of the city or his appointed designee and, in the event of a case of a continuing performance, the firearm and ammunition must be inspected prior to the initial performance only. In the case of a continuing performance, only the firearm and blank ammunition inspected by the chief of police of the city or his appointed designee shall be used in such performance.
