3-10-4: CONFORMITY OF FIRE HYDRANTS:

Fire hydrants shall conform to the latest revision of AWWA C 502, AWWA standard for dry barrel fire hydrants, and shall have the following characteristics:

(A) Fire hydrants shall be of the traffic type with a break off safety flange.

(B) Each hydrant shall have one 41/2-inch and two (2) 21/2-inch hose connections with national standard hose threads.

(C) The operating nut and nozzle cap nuts shall be one and one- half inch (11/2") pentagon. Fire hydrants shall open to the left.

Fire hydrants shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. (Ord. 1216, 12-11-1979)
