The location, number and type of fire hydrants connected to a water supply capable of delivering the required fire flow shall be provided on the public street or on the site of the premises to be protected as required and approved by the chief. Maximum distance between hydrants and structures shall be as follows:
Single-family residential parcels larger than 2 acres | 1,000 feet |
Single-family residential parcels 2 acres and smaller | 500 feet |
Multi-family residential - maximum 4 units | 500 feet |
Commercial and industrial and multi-family residential - 5 or more units | 250 feet |
