§ 34.04 SOCIAL SECURITY.
   (A)   Policy declared; effective date. It is declared the policy of the city to extend to the eligible employees thereof, effective May 1, 1954, the benefits of the federal old age and survivors insurance system, as authorized by the federal Social Security Act and amendments thereto. In pursuance of the policy and for that purpose, the Mayor shall take the action required by applicable state or federal laws and regulations.
   (B)   Execution of agreements. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute an agreement with the state employees' retirement system, Social Security unit, to secure coverage of eligible employees as provided in division (A) above.
   (C)   Withholdings from salaries. Withholdings from the salaries of wages of city employees for the purpose of this section are authorized to be made in the amounts and at the times as may be required by applicable state or federal laws or regulations and shall be paid over to the state agency in the amounts and at the times as are designated by state and federal laws or regulations.
   (D)   Employer's contributions. Employer contributions and administrative expenses shall be paid to the state and federal agencies in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations from amounts appropriate for the purposes.
   (E)   Records. The City Clerk shall maintain the records and submit the reports as may be required by applicable state and federal laws or regulations.
