(A) Required. Official bond shall be required by city officers and in the amounts established from time to time by the City Council.

(B) Premiums.
(1) The city shall pay the premiums on all official bonds required by this chapter or other city ordinance of official bonds required by this chapter or other city ordinance of city officers out of the general corporate fund of the city.
(2) The Council shall select the surety company from which it shall purchase the bonds referred to in division (1) above.
