§ 78.01 DEFINITIONS.
   DEALER. A dealer means a person, partnership, or corporation engaged in the business of manufacturing, selling, or leasing snowmobiles at wholesale or retail.
   DANGEROUS DRUG. Any drug defined as a depressant or stimulant substance in the state Controlled Substance Act, ILCS Ch. 720, Act 570, §§ 100 et seq., and cannabis as defined in the state Cannabis Control Act, ILCS Ch. 720, Act 550, §§ 1 et seq.
   PEACE OFFICER. Any person authorized under state statutes to make arrest for a violation of any statute or ordinance, whether it be a total arrest power of all statutes or a portion of any statute.
   HIGHWAY. The entire width between the lines of any highway, road, street, avenue, alley, or public driveway.
   INTOXICATING BEVERAGE. Any beverage enumerated in the state Liquor Control Act, ILCS Ch. Ch 235, Act 5, §§ 1-1 et seq.
   LOCAL AUTHORITY. The municipal board or body having authority to adopt local police regulations under the constitution and laws of this state.
   NARCOTIC DRUG. Any substance defined as a narcotic drug in the state Controlled Substance Act, ILCS Ch. 720, Act 570, §§ 100 et seq.
   OPERATE. To ride in or on other than as a passenger, use, or control the operation of a snowmobile in any manner, whether or not the snowmobile is underway.
   OPERATOR. Every person who operates or is in actual physical control of a snowmobile.
   OWNER. A person other than a lien holder having title to a snowmobile.
   REGISTER. The act of assigning a registration number to a snowmobile by state statute and by local ordinance.
   ROADWAY. That portion of a highway improved, designed, or ordinarily used for vehicular travel, exclusive of the berm or shoulder. In the event a highway includes two or more separate roadways, the term roadway as used in this chapter refers to any such roadway separately, but not to all such roads collectively.
   SNOWMOBILE. A self-propelled device designed for travel on snow or ice or natural terrain, steered by skis or runners, and supported in part by skis, belts, or cleats.
