§ 52.01 STANDARDS FOR WATER AND SEWER MAIN CONSTRUCTION.
   (A)   (1)   For the purpose of standardizing the construction of water mains, storm sewers and sanitary sewers in the city, and to reduce the time required to prepare, review and approve the specifications for the construction, the following published specifications are hereby adopted as the standard specifications for construction within the city, as now or hereafter existing, or for any such construction which is to be a part of the public works systems of the city for maintenance and operation: “Standard Specifications for Water and Sewer Main Construction in Illinois,” First Edition, dated August 1, 1967, as prepared by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois, the Illinois Chapter of the American Public Works Association, the Illinois Municipal League and the Associated General Contractors of Illinois, with the cooperation of the Illinois Sanitary Water Board and the Illinois Department of Public Health, and any subsequent published revisions or additions to the standard specifications.
      (2)   In all instances where water mains are installed, the installation shall be made with cast iron pipe.
   (B)   Standard Drawings 1 through 18 in the publication adopted in division (A)(1) above are excluded from adoption under this section. Standard drawings showing typical details for the construction of water and sewer mains and appurtenances shall be prepared by the City Engineer and, when approved by the City Council, shall be considered the same as having been adopted as city standards under this section.
   (C)   As provided for in the standard specifications adopted in division (A)(1) above, the specifications may be modified or supplemented by special provisions, which must be approved by the Council for each specific project.
   (D)   Copies of the standard specifications and drawings adopted in this section shall be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk and the City Engineer for inspection by interested parties.
