§ 50.60 EXTENSION OF MAINS.
   (A)   The city shall not be required to extend service within the city limits a distance of more than 200 feet per customer and only then when sufficient funds are available in excess of those required for the proper operation of the system. Extension of mains and services outside the city limits shall be subject to approval of the City Council and also shall be subject to all of the rules and regulations and provisions as provided herein or as may be amended. All mains, lines and equipment immediately shall become the property of the city.
   (B)   If an extension of the city's gas distribution system is necessary to provide gas service to an applicant or a group of applicants the city shall, upon written request for service by the applicants, without charge, make the necessary main extension to the nearest point adjacent to the premises of the applicants, if the gas main extension required does not exceed 200 lineal feet for each applicant or customer to be served. The city may require the applicant or group of applicants to deposit with the city the estimated cost of the extension in excess of the free limit. The Council shall rule on this as individual cases come about and will evaluate the total cost of extending this main with city money and set the payments from the customer in the amounts of principal and interest charged, by monthly payments or otherwise.
