(a) The Mayor shall be the executive head of the auxiliary police unit and shall make all appointments and removals of auxiliary police officers, subject to any general rules prescribed by Council.
(b) The Village police auxiliary unit, shall be used as a training and education section for future officers to be used by the Village of Pioneer. These officers of the auxiliary shall have no arrest powers, and will not be used as working police officers. An auxiliary officer will be allowed to ride with officers to become familiar with the Village and police practices, and to allow members of the public to become familiar with the officers.
(c) Members of the auxiliary will be responsible for all costs in their education that would be paid by the Village. This includes equipment and uniforms that they may need.
(d) Members of the auxiliary will be governed by the same rules and regulations that govern the Village Police Department. Any violations of those rules and regulations, may possibly subject the officer to immediate removal from the department, at the discretion of the Mayor. (Ord. 9-1991. Passed 9-24-91.)
