8-2-9: PROTECTION OF TREES AND SHRUBS:
   A.   Injury: It shall be unlawful to injure any tree or shrub in any public place. (1990 Code §15.510)
   B.   Utility Companies:
      1.   Any person or company which maintains poles and wires in the streets, alleys or other public places shall, in the absence of provision in the franchise covering the subject, keep such wires and poles free and away from any trees and shrubs in such places as far as possible, and shall keep all such trees and shrubs near such wires and poles properly trimmed, subject to the supervision of the village manager or his designee, so that no injury shall be done either to the poles or wires or to the shrubs and trees by their contact.       2.   Any person, firm or corporation maintaining any gas pipe in the village shall keep such pipes free from leaks so that no injury shall be done thereby to any trees or shrubs. (1990 Code §15.512)
   C.   Attaching Wire, Rope Or Other Cordage: It is unlawful to attach any wire, rope or other similar cordage to any tree or shrub on any public street, parkway or other public place without the permission of the public works director or a designee thereof. (Ord. 2016-O-22, 11-21-2016)
   D.   Posting Advertisements Or Notices: It shall be unlawful to attach any sign, advertisement or notice to any tree or shrub in any public place. (1990 Code §15.511)
   E.   Excavations: In making excavations in streets or other public places, proper care shall be taken to avoid injury to the roots of any tree, flower or shrub whenever possible. (1990 Code §15.513)
