A. It shall be the duty of the police officers of the police department to see to the enforcement of all of the ordinances of the village and all statutes applicable thereto; and to preserve order and prevent infractions of the law and arrest violators thereof. (Ord. 2006-25, 10-2-2006)
B. The chief of police and all officers of the department shall have the power and authority of a constable at common law and such other powers as granted to municipal police officers under the statutes of the state and as set forth in the ordinances of the village.
C. It shall be the duty of the chief of police and police officers of the department to enforce all of the ordinances of the village and state and federal statutes applicable therein and to preserve order, prevent violation of the law and to arrest violators thereof. D. Every police officer and member of the department shall appear as a witness whenever necessary for the prosecution of any violation of a village ordinance or state or federal statute. All witness fees received by an officer for testimony shall be delivered to the village finance director. (Ord. 2006-25, 10-2-2006; amd. 2011 Code)
