(A) The Fire Chief shall perform the following duties in addition to any other duties:
(1) Take custody of all equipment of the Fire Department and all tools and other personal property of the city (excepting the motor vehicles employed by the Police, Sanitation, and Street Departments), keep account thereof, and make reports thereof from time to time when called upon by the Mayor and City Council;
(2) Exercise the duties of custodian of the municipal building, preserve order therein, and keep the same in clean and sanitary condition and good state of repair and appearance;
(3) Act as, and perform the duties of, keeper of the city jail and perform such duties usually performed by such jailer;
(4) Exercise the duties of operator of the police radio and telephone during his or her hours of duty, which shall be not less than 12 hours each day, and shall also be subject to answer any fire call at any time;
(5) Perform such duties as Fire Inspector as provided in ordinance passed January 6, 1947; and
(6) Perform such other duties and comply with such other rules and regulations heretofore prescribed by law, the Mayor, and City Council.
(B) In addition to his or her regular compensation as the City Council shall hereafter fix from time to time, the city shall furnish the Fire Chief with living quarters in the municipal building, including light, heat, and water facilities therefor.
