In addition to the regular Police Department of the city, as the Department is now maintained, and under and by virtue of the authority given to the city by KRS 95.450, there is created in the city an organization to be known as the auxiliary police force, the object and purpose of which shall be to aid, assist, and work with the regular or full-time members of the city’s Police Department in performing special duties within the city in accordance with the rules and regulations as prescribed by the City Council and the Police Department.
