§ 36.29 DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS.
   The Mayor is hereby empowered to take proper disciplinary action against any officer of the Police Department guilty of violating any of the provisions of this chapter, or violating any rule or regulation theretofore promulgated by the Mayor or guilty of absenteeism from duty, and he or she may suspend such officer from duty without pay for a period of not exceeding seven days, or with approval of the City Council in lawful session, he or she may suspend such officer from duty without pay for a period in excess of seven days. In case of such suspension or absence from regular duty, such officer’s monthly salary for the month in which such suspension or absence from duty occurs shall be reduced in the proportion which the day or days of suspension or absence from duty bear to the days of duty within such monthly pay period.
