§ 36.10 KENTUCKY LAW ENFORCEMENT FOUNDATION PROGRAM FUND.
   (A)   It is the purpose and intent of the City Council that, in addition to the qualifications prescribed by law, the Chief of Police and members of the Police Department shall possess the educational qualifications prescribed by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund (KLEFPF) and, within six months immediately following his or her election, shall successfully complete a ten-week course of police work training provided by KLEFPF and thereafter complete other police training thereby prescribed; and it is the purpose and intent of the City Council that the Police Department be operated and maintained in a manner as will comply with the provisions of the program.
   (B)   To that end, any person elected Chief of Police, Assistant Chief, or police officer following the passage of this section who fails to successfully complete said ten-week course of study prescribed by KLEFPF within six months immediately following his or her election shall forfeit and vacate the office or position to which he or she was elected; and failure of the Chief of Police or any member of the Police Department to successfully complete the hours of training required by the program subsequent to said ten-week period of training shall be cause for his or her dismissal and discharge by the City Council.
