§ 52.060 INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING SERVICE LINES.
   (A)   The city shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of service lines from the main to the meter outlet. The customer shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of water service lines beyond the meter outlet.
   (B)   The customer shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of sewer service lines servicing them from the point of connection of the lines to the city’s sewerage system, except as hereinafter provided. No customer may cover the service lines until authorized by the city’s Utilities Superintendent or the Superintendent’s agent.
   (C)   Whenever a sewer service line from the point of connection to the customer to the city’s sewerage system crosses beneath a highway under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation, the city shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of all that part of the service line beneath the right of way of the highway and shall be the owner thereof with all costs of installation and maintenance to be paid by the customer to the city when billed therefore.
   (D)   Customers will not connect any service line or any plumbing connected with the service line to any other water source. All service lines must comply with the Standard Specifications for Water Main and Sewer Construction, Third Edition.
