§ 51.46 PROTECTION OF FACILITIES DURING AND FOLLOWING SANITARY SEWER CONSTRUCTION.
   (A)   Plans and specifications for construction work, specifically including trenching, must include the general location of all natural gas service lines and mains which cross the construction or are located within ten feet of the outer limits of any proposed trenching.
   (B)   A preconstruction conference shall be held not less than two weeks before the beginning of trenching work and minutes of that conference shall be maintained in the permanent records of the city gas utility.
   (C)   The preconstruction conference shall be attended by the Superintendent or other authorized agent of the contractor proposing the construction or trenching work and by the Superintendent of the city gas utility, or the Superintendent’s agent.
   (D)   A written request for surface marking must be delivered by the construction contractor or excavator to the Superintendent of the city gas utility not less than two full working days before the initiation of construction or excavation.
   (E)   Gas facilities to be exposed by excavations shall be specifically identified to the Superintendent of the city gas utility by the contractor or excavator 24 hours in advance of the time the facilities will be exposed.
   (F)   The contractor or excavator shall report to the Superintendent of the city gas utility any incident in which gas facilities are exposed accidentally, whether damaged or not, not more than two hours following the accidental exposure.
   (G)   A qualified employee of the city gas utility shall be present at the site of any excavation occurring within ten feet of any gas service line or other gas facility.
   (H)   The contractor or excavator shall reimburse the city for the actual cost of providing a qualified employee by the city gas utility, as provided in division (G) above. The costs shall be invoiced by the city gas utility to the contractor or excavator and shall be due and payable within 30 days of the date of the invoice.
