§ 32.116 APPOINTMENT.
   (A)   The Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, is hereby authorized to appoint auxiliary policemen to the auxiliary police unit. Prior to appointment, all proposed auxiliary policemen shall make application to, and authorize criminal background checks by, the Chief of Police of the city.
   (B)   No person shall be appointed as an auxiliary policeman if he or she has been convicted of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude.
   (C)   All appointees shall be at least 21 years of age and residents of the city. The Chief of Police shall submit all approved applicants to the Mayor and City Council for appropriate action.
   (D)   No elected official of the city shall serve as an auxiliary policeman during such official’s term of office.
