§ 31.27 HOLIDAYS.
   (A)   The town may grant the following paid holidays to all eligible full-time employees:
      (1)   New Year’s Day: January 1;
      (2)   Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: third Monday in January;
      (3)   Good Friday: Friday preceding Easter Sunday;
      (4)   Memorial Day: last Monday in May;
      (5)   Independence Day: July 4;
      (6)   Labor Day: first Monday in September;
      (7)   Veteran’s Day: November 11;
      (8)   Thanksgiving Day: fourth Thursday in November;
      (9)   Day after Thanksgiving: fourth Friday in November;
      (10)   Christmas Eve Day: December 24;
      (11)   Christmas Day: December 25; and
      (12)   New Year’s Eve Day: December 31.
   (B)   When either primary or general election days take place in the Pierceton Community Building, the Clerk Treasurer’s office will be closed on the election day and those employees will have an unpaid day off.
   (C)   A recognized holiday that falls on a Saturday may be observed on the preceding Friday. A recognized holiday that falls on a Sunday may be observed on the following Monday. Nonexempt employees who work a recognized holiday will be paid straight time pay for all hours worked. If a recognized holiday falls during an eligible employee’s paid time off, e.g., vacation benefits, sick leave, bereavement leave, holiday pay will be provided instead of the paid time off that would otherwise have applied. Employees must be in a paid status the day immediately preceding and immediately following a recognized holiday to be paid for the holiday.
   (D)   Holiday pay is paid at the employee’s current pay rate at the time of the absence and will be included in the calculation of overtime.
   (E)   Refer to the town employee handbook for additional information on holidays.
