It shall be unlawful for any persons to allow a dog or cat owned by him or her to injure or destroy any real or personal property of any description belonging to another person. The owner of any such dog or cat, in addition to usual judgment upon conviction, may be held liable to the persons so injured in an amount equal to the value of the damage so sustained.
