(a) All appointments to the Police Department shall be for a probation period of six months. Continuance in service shall depend on the conduct of the appointee and the quality of his or her work, as indicated in the reports and recommendations of his or her superior officers.
(b) If, during the probationary period, the appointee proves unfit, he or she shall be dismissed by the Chief of Police with the approval of Council, and shall not be entitled to appeal from such dismissal.
