The Street Commissioner shall have charge of the construction and maintenance of all public streets and alleys in the city, and the keeping of the same clean, including salting and snow removal. He or she shall be in charge of construction of water and sewer lines and the reading of meters as well as backhoe work. He or she shall see to it that all gutters and drains function properly and that the same are kept free from defects. He or she shall coordinate activities with the City Manager, sign work orders and inventory. The Street Commissioner shall have charge and custody of sanitary and storm sewer systems of the city, and shall see to it that the same are kept in good repair and that they function properly; and in addition he or she shall perform such other duties as may be assigned to him or her by the Mayor and Council.
