(a) Original doors should be retained, repaired and refinished. Attractive hardware, such as brass door pulls and plates, add visual value to the entrance and should be retained.
(b) New and replacement doors should be compatible with the historic character and design of the building.
(c) Where bare aluminum doors are to be retained, they should be primed and painted.
(d) Consider using subtle decorations on new and replacement doors. A handsome knob or pull or an attractive molding can make the door special and inviting.
