§ 70.01 ADOPTING MICHIGAN UNIFORM TRAFFIC CODE.
   (A)   The Uniform Traffic Code for Cities, Townships and Villages promulgated by the Commissioner of State Police on February 14, 1958 and published in Supplement No. 13, and as amended both on February 14, 1961 and published in Supplement No. 25, and on February 26, 1968 and published in Supplement No. 54 to the 1954 Michigan Administrative Code, in accordance with Public Act 62 of 1956, being M.C.L.A. §§ 257.951 through 257.955, is hereby adopted by reference as in this section modified.
   (B)   References in the Uniform Traffic Code for Cities, Townships and Villages to “governmental unit” shall mean the “Village of Pewamo.”
   (C)   A complete copy of the Uniform Traffic Code is retained in the village office for inspection.
   (D)   This section shall take effect and be in force 20 days after its adoption.

§ 70.02 ADOPTION OF MICHIGAN VEHICLE CODE.
   The Michigan Vehicle Code, in accordance with Public Act 300 of 1949, being M.C.L.A. §§ 257.1 et seq. is hereby adopted by reference as may be modified in this chapter.
§ 70.03 REFERENCES IN CODE.
   References in the Michigan Vehicle Code to governmental unit shall mean this village.
TRUCKS
§ 70.15 TRUCK ROUTE ESTABLISHED.
   (A)   The roadway set forth in Chapter 72, Schedule I is hereby designated as a truck route through the village. All trucks passing through the village shall only be operated over and along the truck route established.
   (B)   No person shall operate or haul or cause to be operated or hauled any vehicle, truck, truck tractor, trailer or semi-trailer of width, height, length or weight in excess of the limitations governing size and weight restrictions specified by the Uniform Traffic Code upon any roadway through the village except upon the designated truck route.
   (C)   This section shall not prohibit:
      (1)   Operation of emergency vehicles and public utility vehicles upon any roadway in the village;
      (2)   Operation of trucks on East Main Street utilizing the Schafer Petroleum Station; or
      (3)   Delivery trucks and/or school buses with a specific destination within the village.
   (D)   This section shall take effect and be in force 20 days after its adoption.

§ 70.99 PENALTY.
   Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be punished as a municipal civil infraction as set forth within § 10.98 of this code of ordinances.
