§ 31.18 STANDING COMMITTEES.
   (A)   All committee assignments shall be for a term of one year, as provided for in the rules. There shall be seven standing committees of the Council which shall consist of at least one member and no more than three members. These committee assignments shall be made by the Council in regular session at the first regular January meeting of each year. The standing committees shall be:
      (1)   Committee on Utilities (Electric, Water and Waste Departments);
      (2)   Committee on Streets and Sanitation (Streets, Alleys and Sanitation Department, Animal Control);
      (3)   Committee on Recreation (Park Department, etc.);
      (4)   Committee on Safety (Fire and Police Departments);
      (5)   Committee on Aviation;
      (6)   Committee on Cable Television; and
      (7)   Committee on Tax Abatement Review.
   (B)   In addition, the Council may, as a consensus, appoint or assign members or liaisons to the following boards, committees/of commissions, for the purposes of observing and reporting back to the regular meeting of the Council, for the following but not limited to:
      (1)   Americans with Disabilities Act liaison;
      (2)   Chamber of Commerce liaison;
      (3)   Civic Center liaison;
      (4)   County Government liaison (County Council, County Commissioners, etc);
      (5)   Miami County Central Dispatch (911) liaison;
      (6)   Miami County Economic Development Authority liaison;
      (7)   Miami County Recycling District appointee;
      (8)   Wage Negotiation Committee;
      (9)   Fire Department liaison;
      (10)   Police Department liaison;
      (11)   Cable Board liaison;
      (12)   Park Board liaison;
      (13)   Historic Preservation Commission liaison;
      (14)   Street and Sanitation Department liaison;
      (15)   Animal Control liaison;
      (16)   Utility Service Board liaison;
      (17)   Rediscover Downtown Inc. liaison;
      (18)   Future Growth of Peru liaison;
      (19)   Aviation Board liaison; and
      (20)   Plan Commission appointee.
