§ 33.058 WEAPONS AND VIOLENCE.
   (A)   The city supports an environment that is safe and free from violence for all employees, clients, and vendors. To that end, employees are not allowed to illegally or legally carry firearms, ammunition, knives (other than a small blade used directly for work-related functions), or any other weapon on our property or while conducting city business except as permitted by state law. Any employee found to be violating this policy is subject to discipline, up to and including termination. Any employee who displays a tendency to engage in violent, abusive, or threatening behavior, or who otherwise engages in behavior that the city, in its sole discretion, deems offensive or inappropriate will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
   (B)   Employees have a “duty to warn” their supervisors, security personnel, or Human Resources of any suspicious workplace activity. This includes threats or acts of violence, aggressive behavior, offensive acts, threatening remarks, and the like. Employee reports will be held in confidence to the extent possible as required by law, and the city will not condone any acts of retaliation against an employee making a report.
