267.03-1 COMPENSATION FOR ADVANCED STUDY.
   (a)   All full-time employees of the City, excluding employees for whom the position requires special courses or degrees, who have completed their probationary periods of employment with the City, shall, during their employment, be entitled to an additional annual compensation at the rate of fifty dollars ($50.00) for each fifteen quarter credit hours, or equivalent semester hours, of course study in curricula taught in institutions above the secondary school level, if such advanced study program is:
      (1)   Certified by the institution of higher learning as having been satisfactorily completed;
      (2)   Completed in the general study areas that would enhance the employee's performance of his or her assigned duties and applicable to the employee's position; and
      (3)   Approved in writing by the Director of Public Service-Safety as meeting the requirements of this section prior to the enrollment of the employee.
   (b)   This section shall not apply to any advanced study or training paid for in full or in part by the City.
   (c)   All full-time employees of the City who are presently receiving compensation pursuant to subsection (a) hereof, or any similar previous ordinance of the City, shall continue to receive the amount presently being paid.
