(a) The City shall establish for the benefit of each police officer regularly employed on a full-time basis a fund for the procurement of professional liability insurance.

(b) The City shall pay into the individual professional liability insurance funds a sum not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) per calendar year.

(c) Allowances provided for in this section shall be used for the purpose of purchasing professional liability insurance programs for each qualifying officer under the direction of the Director of Public Service-Safety, and payment in all cases shall be made directly to the company underwriting the program.
