The City of Perrysburg shall provide appropriate personal protective equipment for employees to safely perform their job duties with the City of Perrysburg.
(a) The City shall issue safety glasses to any employee performing duties that require the use of safety glasses. If the employee wears prescription eyeglasses the City will issue "over the glasses safety glasses." If an employee wearing prescription eyeglasses prefers OSHA compliant prescription safety glasses, they may request approval by the Occupational Safety and Heath Coordinator and the City Administrator. If the employee's request for OSHA complaint prescription safety glasses is approved by the Occupational Safety and Heath Coordinator and the City Administrator, the City will provide a voucher to a vendor of the City's choosing for up to two hundred dollars ($200.00) per calendar year for the purchase of OSHA approved prescription safety glasses.
(b) The City shall provide a one·time reimbursement of up to two hundred dollars ($200.00) per calendar year towards the purchase of one pair of OSHA compliant safety shoes or boots for those full-time employees required by OSHA standards to wear steel-toe shoes to complete their job responsibilities. The determination of whether an employee's job responsibilities require an employee to wear OSHA compliant safety shoes or boots shall be done by the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator and approved by the City Administrator.
(c) Personal protective equipment shall not be used except on duty, during the commute to and from home, and during commute-related incidental activities.
(d) The City may, at its sole discretion, decommission personal protective equipment it deems no longer fit and proper for City use. The determination of whether an employee's personal protective equipment is no longer fit and proper for City use shall be done by the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator. If the City decommissions an employee's personal protective equipment prior to the start of the next calendar year, the employee may request that the City provide suitable replacement personal protective equipment. The determination of whether an employee's request for suitable replacement personal protective equipment is granted shall be done by the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator and approved by the City Administrator.
