Animal care and control shall maintain all impounded animals for a minimum of ten days, unless as otherwise provided for injured or diseased animals, or until claimed by the owner. Untagged and unmicro-chipped animals shall be maintained for no less than ten days, unless as otherwise provided for injured or diseased animals, so long as space allows at the shelter. If the animal is not redeemed within the appropriate time period, the Animal Control Officer may cause the animal to be destroyed in a humane manner as established by NACA (National Animal Control Association) or place ownership of the animal with an animal shelter.
