(A) There is hereby established an inspection fee for a vehicle inspection made by members of the County Sheriff’s Department including the Sheriff, regular deputies or reserves or other officers by allowed by statute. These fees shall be payable by the person requesting the inspection. The fee shall be paid at the time of the inspection. Upon payment of the fee, the person making the inspection shall issue a receipt.
(B) The amount of the inspection fee shall be $5. All inspections shall take place at the County Sheriff’s Department unless otherwise agreed to by the County Sheriff’s Department. Nothing herein shall be interpreted to require any inspector to travel to any location outside the boundaries of the county to make an inspection.
(C) The revenues collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited in a Special Vehicle Inspection Fund which is hereby established by this section. The Common Council, as the fiscal body of the county, must appropriate the money collected from these fees only for law enforcement purposes.
