(A) It is declared unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the city to discharge within the city limits any firearms or guns, revolvers, pistols, pellet guns, or other similar device commonly referred to as a BB gun, except nothing in this section shall apply to a peace officer in the discharge of his or her duties, to a person in the lawful defense of his or her person or family, to an organization, group, or person authorized in writing by the City Council or Chief of Police, or to persons using a rifle/gun range designated by the City Council.
(B) Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
