(a) Except as otherwise permitted herein, a satellite dish in a yard may be located only in the rear yard. A satellite dish antenna that is one meter or less in diameter may be located in the side or front yard only if the applicant demonstrates that placement of the antenna in the rear yard would preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal and that the proposed location is the site closest to the rear yard at which the antenna receives an acceptable quality signal. To the extent possible without precluding reception of an acceptable quality signal, a satellite dish must be screened from the street and neighboring lots with appropriate evergreen landscaping approved by the Inspector of Buildings. For purposes of this section, “acceptable quality signal” shall have the same meaning as that term is used by the Federal Communications Commission in relation to satellite dish antennas one meter or less in diameter.
(b) Except as otherwise permitted herein, a satellite dish shall not be mounted on a dwelling or structure. A satellite dish antenna that is one meter or less may be attached to the side wall, rear wall or roof of a dwelling. If roof mounted, the satellite dish antenna shall be mounted only upon a portion of the roof that faces the rear yard and shall not extend above the maximum height of the roof upon which it is mounted. A satellite dish antenna may not be mounted upon any portion of a roof that faces the front yard unless the applicant demonstrates that the placement of the satellite dish antenna as permitted herein or in subsection (a) hereof would preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal.
(c) The permit fee for a satellite dish antenna that is one meter or less in diameter is $25.00.
