Bereavement leave shall be granted for up to three days, not to exceed twenty-four scheduled work hours, after the death of a member of an employee’s immediate family and up to one day after the death of the employee’s grandparents, brother-in-law or sister-in-law. For purposes of this section, an employee’s immediate family includes his or her spouse, child, including step-child, grandchild, parent, current parents-in-law, step-parents, sister and brother. This leave shall not be deducted from the employee’s accumulated sick leave or other benefits.
