244.03 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
   (a)    There shall be a Department of Public Safety, composed of the Police and Fire Departments, which shall be administered by a Director of Public Safety. Subject to the annual confirmation of Council, the Director of Public Safety shall be appointed by the Mayor and may be the Mayor. The term of office of Director of Public Safety shall expire at the time of the Council's annual organizational meeting, and if the Director is someone other than the Mayor, the Director shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
 
   (b)    The Director of Public Safety shall be the executive head of the police and fire departments. The Director shall have all powers and duties connected with, and incident to, the appointment, regulation, and government of such departments except as otherwise provided by law.
 
   (c)    The Director of Public Safety shall receive such compensation as Council shall, from time to time provide. (Ord. 2015-16. Passed 6-24-15.)
