(a) A fee shall be charged by the City for each person receiving Emergency Medical Service from the City as follows:
(1) Basic life support (BLS) emergency transport one way - $500.00 plus $10.00 per mile.
(2) Advanced life support I (ALS I) emergency transport one way - $600.00 plus $10.00 per mile.
(3) Advanced life support II (ALS II) emergency transport one way - $650.00 plus $10.00 per mile.
(b) The Treasurer is authorized and instructed to collect the fees for Emergency Medical Services and to establish rules and regulations for such collection. The Treasurer has the authority to waive the fee or any part thereof if the person is indigent or otherwise unable to pay for said services.
(c) The City shall not bill or attempt to collect from any resident of the City and/or any person employed within the City any amount in excess of the amount paid by the resident’s or employee’s medical insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. The Treasurer shall not bill or attempt to collect from any resident of the City and/or any person employed within the City any insurance co-payment or deductible, or Medicare or Medicaid co-payment or deductible.
