Each full-time member of the Fire Department shall be entitled to an annual cash allowance in the amount of four hundred dollars ($400.00) for the maintenance of uniforms, which allowance shall be payable to such regular members of the Fire Department in amounts of one-fourth the annual allowance with the member's last pay in March, June, September and December, without invoice or receipt for such uniform maintenance, commencing January 1, 1998. Uniform purchases shall be limited to six hundred dollars ($600.00) per year and must be approved in advance by the Chief. First year uniform allowances for new employees will be determined by the Chief and the Mayor and the six hundred dollar ($600.00) limitation will not apply. Turnout gear cost shall be over and above the clothing allowance amount.
