(a) The position of Medical Adviser to the Paramedic Medical Service Unit of the Pepper Pike Fire Department is hereby established. The Medical Adviser shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council, for a term of one year expiring on the date of the next annual organizational meeting of Council, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
(b) The Medical Adviser shall advise the Paramedic Medical Service Unit and review with such Unit the procedures and techniques involved in specific rescue squad runs. This shall be done on a regular basis, either weekly or monthly, depending upon the quantity of work to be reviewed. He or she shall provide, suggest or arrange for any additional training or other work experience which he or she feels is necessary. He or she shall be responsible for the signing of any drug permits or licenses needing the medical supervision or control of an M.D. He or she shall receive his or her instructions from and report directly to the Mayor. He or she shall attend such hospital or Paramedic Committee meetings as are deemed necessary by him or her, by Council or by the Mayor.
