In lieu of overtime pay as provided in Section 238.04, Police Department employees may accumulate overtime hours at the rate of one and one-half hours of time off for each hour of overtime worked, as compensatory time off, not to exceed forty hours of accumulated time off at any time. Such accumulated time off may be taken at the employee's discretion, provided that minimum staffing requirements are maintained without incurring overtime. Any unused compensatory time off shall be paid for at the end of the calendar year at the regular rate.
