Any person who violates any provision of this code of ordinances shall be subject to a forfeiture of not less than $10, nor more than $500, plus costs. Each day a violation continues shall constitute a separate violation. Where a statute requires that the penalty for a violation of this code of ordinances shall conform to the penalty provided by statute, any person in default of payment of the forfeiture shall be committed to the county jail until the forfeiture shall be paid, but not exceeding 60 days or until otherwise discharged pursuant to law.
