Residents may, at their expense, install a second meter for outdoor use provided that water from this meter does not flow into the sanitary sewer system. All installations of this type must be inspected by the city before the service begins. Subject to annual inspection by city at any other time to confirm outdoor use only upon any reasonable inspection. Violators ordered to remove and be prohibited from and to the second meter penalties. Meters for residential use (including outdoor water use) must be five-eighths inches in size and purchased from the city. Installation of the meter shall be the responsibility of the homeowner. All meter installations shall be inspected by the Water Superintendent before water service begins. Touchpad readers for the subtract meter shall be located on the same side of the structure as the touchpad for the whole house meter. All commercial and industrial establishments requiring a meter larger than five-eighths inches shall purchase a meter that will accurately measure the amount of water used and install an outside remote reader. All meters must have the approval of the Water Superintendent before installation. All meter installations shall be inspected by the Water Superintendent before water service begins.
