§ 150.065 MECHANICAL CODE ADOPTED.
   (A)   (1)   There is hereby adopted by reference as the “Peosta Mechanical Code” that certain mechanical code known as the 2021 International Residential Code, Chapters 12 to 24 and code appendices, as prepared and edited by the International Code Council, subject to the amendment and other provisions of this subchapter.
      (2)   The provisions of the mechanical code shall be controlling for the installation, maintenance, and use of heating, ventilating, cooling, refrigeration systems, incinerators, and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances within the corporate limits of the city. A copy of said code shall be on file in the office of the City Clerk for public inspection.
   (B)   Said International Residential Code is hereby amended as follows: M1502.4.2 “Duct installation” is hereby replaced with the following:
   “Exhaust ducts shall be supported at intervals not to exceed 12 feet (3658 mm) and shall be secured in place. The insert end of the duct shall extend into the adjoining duct or fitting in the direction of airflow. Exhaust duct joints shall be sealed in accordance with Section M1601.4.1 and shall be mechanically fastened. The use of aluminum ducting is allowed.”
