9-2-4: LOCATION AND SPECIFICATIONS OF NUMBERS:
   A.   Height Of Numbers: All structures will be numbered and the figures on each building shall not be of less dimension than two and one-half inches (21/2") in height; although a four inch (4") figure is the recommended size for all commercial, residential, and business use properties.
   B.   Legibility And Placement On Building: Each figure shall be legible and placed in a conspicuous position on the front side or above the front door of every structure thereof.
   C.   Placement On Stationary Structure And On Building: If the numbers are visibly positioned on a stationary structure, without possible obstructions due to parked cars, it will still be necessary for the second posting of the numbers on the house. These stationary structures may include, but shall not be limited to, mailboxes, pillars, or planters located in the front portion of the property. It is essential that all numbers should be visibly located on the structure.
   D.   Words May Be Used; Numbers Preferred: Numbers may be spelled out in accordance to the height dimensions previously mentioned, but preference is given to actual numbers. (Ord. 1154, 9-21-1999)
   E.   Violations; Penalties:
      1.   Any person, being the owner or occupant of any building now erected or which may hereafter be erected and being upon and fronting on any of the streets of the village, who shall fail to number the building in conformity with the provisions of this section for more than thirty (30) days after notification by the village, shall be in violation of this section and shall be fined as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code.
      2.   At any time this section is prohibited or made or declared to be unlawful or an offense, or whenever in this section the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision shall be punishable as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each offense. Each day any violation of any provision of this section shall continue shall constitute a separate offense. (Ord. 1154, 9-21-1999; amd. 2016 Code)
