For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CHILD CARE FACILITIES. Shall be defined in § 402.302, F.S.. as may be amended from time to time.
DOOR ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM. A system that maintains a locked door(s) in a child care facility, which allows a person who wishes to gain entry into the facility, the ability to press a button to request entry. The property owner, business owner, employee, tenant, or authorized individual inside the child care facility is permitted to use an intercom to speak to the person requesting entry to determine why they are seeking entry. The property owner, business owner, employee, tenant, or authorized individual in the building may press and hold button which releases the lock on the door and permits the individual to enter the premises or refrain from pressing the button to decline the individual's request for entry. Once the button is pressed and held it will release the lock mechanism and the individual will be able to gain entry into the building.
PANIC ALARM BUTTON. A button in a building that is professionally designed, maintained and monitored by an alarm company, that once it is pressed or pushed by an individual, activates a silent alarm that sends a signal to an alarm company to dispatch the City of Pembroke Pines Police Department, City of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, and other enforcement and first responders to the location where the panic button was pushed or pressed. The panic button is used by an individual when there is an imminent threat to persons or property or in the event of emergency.
