(A) A franchisee shall maintain at least one conveniently located business office and service center within the city limits under the name in which it does business within the city. Consumers may make payments, obtain information, return, pick up and exchange equipment, or conduct other business regarding cable service at the business office. This business office shall be open at minimum from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and at least four weekend and four evening hours. The city may waive temporarily a franchisee's obligation to have an office within the city if the franchisee provides other methods for providing convenient services to its customers. As an alternative to maintaining an office within the city, a franchisee may maintain an office within five miles of the city provided the franchisee maintains a location within the city where subscribers may make payments without additional charge, and the city determines that the franchisee is otherwise able to respond conveniently to consumers' requests.
(B) If the franchisee does not comply with this section, the franchisee shall have 30 days to cure the violation from the day the franchisee receives notice of the violation. If the franchisee has not cured the violation within 30 days from such notice date, the city shall fine a franchisee for violation of this section $500 per day for each day that the violation continues. The fines shall begin to accrue on the first business day after the 30 day cure period has terminated.
